THE ORIGIN OF FORM

The furniture and object collection has taken a significant step toward consolidating independent design in Colombia. Since its launch, POMOLOGÍA has sparked conversation about how Colombian design can create a distinct identity through the unique style and craftsmanship of independent design, made and created in Colombia.

 

Through a creative exercise, which starts from the processes of conceptual research, typical of the implementation of a methodology that investigates the concepts of the origin of form and function, as a relevant theoretical basis in the search for a proactive and contemporary aesthetic language in current design; The continuous work of more than 7 years has as a constant, an investigative creation process, which very well constitutes the unique and timeless proposal of OCHOINFINITO, the architect Carlos H. Garzón, with his training at the master's level and his extensive professional experience in the study and intervention of cultural heritage assets, consolidates a relevant and forceful definition of the terms for cultural valuation, both from our natural resources, inherent to the territory we inhabit, and from Colombia's tangible and intangible cultural heritage, which is made alive and unique in the know-how, with the techniques and artisanal mastery of our country; thus, always keeping in mind the terms of cultural valuation, in its symbolic, aesthetic and historical aspects, the furniture and objects of OCHOINFINITO, call for the consolidation of  our time, These cultural values, as axes of creation, and through the implementation of a scientific methodology, are the result of a solid and unique creative process, This is reflected in the furniture and objects designed in a common language, which tells the story of how natural resources, in this case in the POMOLOGIA collection, some of the fruits and their seeds, representative of our territory, are the inspiration to create a design proposal that leads us to reflect and understand how, designer fashion constitutes that essential link for the consolidation of identity  of what has been made and created in Colombia, managing to be a differentiating proposal and decisive in the panorama of design worldwide.

 

Design objects, expression of identity;

POMOLOGIA 2.0 is a design proposal derived from the study and geometric analysis of a fruit like the Custard Apple and its seeds. It develops a series of furniture pieces and objects that demonstrate the design inquiry into the origin of form / the edition series  A limited selection of furniture, table accessories, fine art, and contemporary crafts makes evident the creative and design processes that, through a contemporary aesthetic language, seek to build and consolidate a formal identity that is the result of a creative methodology that delves into the most natural and organic essence of the formal components derived from the exercises of  abstraction and the geometric analysis of one of the natural resources (in this case a fruit); natural heritage that in the collective memory of Colombians, are identified as unique and exotic of the territory and climate that we inhabit in the Colombian Andes.

 

The technique; with a constant appreciation of know-how, the work of wood in cabinetmaking in the old style and bringing to the present of contemporary design, a craft such as wood carving, intangible heritage of the city of Pasto, makes evident the authenticity and originality of the author's design proposed by OCHOINFINITO, where its furniture and objects have as their main objective, to achieve emotional connections with the objects of daily use, to make remarkable and unique the way of expressing domestic and daily life.

 

A unique and purposeful aesthetic language; it is quite evident that the POMOLOGIA 2.0 collection emerges from the organic forms of nature, through exercises in observation and abstraction of SEEDS, from a fruit like the Custard Apple, the geometric composition is derived: THE CIRCLE as the basis for creation for the design of objects, textile patterns, porcelain plates, illustrations and furniture, which identify and lead us to find it as an expression of art.  The origin of the form becomes implicit, achieving a sophisticated, inspired aesthetic, where the creative processes elaborated in line and drawing are the graphic and formal component that allows the creation of images with suggestive, authentic, and timeless languages; with a retro-futuristic aesthetic. loaded with emotional connections and concepts typical of the designer's style, which show a method of creation, managing to highlight the origin of the form and successfully fulfilling the utilitarian use that  It constitutes the essence of good design, which is expressed through suggestive, authentic, and timeless languages; a design that inspires and builds identity.
